According to the CDC, Lyme disease is defined as a bacterial infection spread to people through the bite of blacklegged ticks. The symptoms include fever, headache, fatigue, and a characteristic skin rash (it usually looks like a bullseye) although a rash is not always present.

The issue is that Lyme disease is not always diagnosed accurately. My son had Lyme disease and suffered immensely because the doctors didn’t know what he had. His symptoms included severe pain, headache, and exhaustion but he did not have a noticeable rash.

The symptoms of Lyme disease can be common to other illnesses. There is no direct blood test for the bacteria that causes Lyme disease. There is an antibody test but it’s not always accurate. I think you have to go to a doctor who sees a lot of cases of Lyme disease so it can be considered. For example, doctors in areas where there is a lot of wilderness and tick bites are more common.

If Lyme disease spreads, it is very dangerous because the bacteria can spread to other parts of the body. A co-worker of mine was hospitalized in critical condition for Lyme disease and barely made it out of the hospital alive. Anyway, I would recommend reading about Lyme disease because it is serious and with proper care it can be alleviated.
