How can you boost up your immune surgery before surgery?
I asked my doctor how to boost up my immune system and prepare for surgery. Here’s what he said:
Eat a lot of protein a week before surgery
Quit smoking before surgery
Eat a good diet! That includes plant-based foods, high fiber, without sugary, high processed foods
Increase exercise.
To me, it sounds like the way doctors ask people live all the time. It seems especially important before going under anesthesia and going through surgery. I have also started to meditate, and lower my stress level knowing I am about to undergo surgery. I’m wondering if there are certain supplements that help to boost one’s immune system aside from vitamins.
I read on Harvard Health from Dr. Michael Starnbach: There is some truth to the idea that vitamins can help immunity. Vitamins can help ward off disease and other health problems, but only in people who are severely malnourished, something that’s not true of the average American adult. So, vitamin formulations will do little to help you stay healthy if you are healthy already. I’m not sure if it makes a difference before surgery but following good health practices like you mentioned seems like a good idea
