The Price Transparency Rule
There’s a new law that was enacted on January 1, 2021, called the Price Transparency Rule. It requires all hospitals operating within the United States to make public a list of their standard charges for items and services via the Internet in a machine-readable format. Hospitals must also provide prices for a list of 300 shoppable services that must be made publicly available in a searchable, consumer-friendly format. The idea is to give consumers publicized cost information so they can make informed decisions. It increases market competition and ultimately drives down the cost of healthcare services, making them more affordable for all patients. More information about the bill can be found at:

So why is Susan Sarandon upset? Because she feels that hospitals are not letting patients know about the new law. In fact, many Americans are not aware of the new law. It’s great information and transparency that consumers should have had long ago. Hospitals are businesses too and consumers can shop around if they have enough information.

Hospital won’t let you know about the new law unless you ask. You can look up pricing. Finally, because when I’ve gotten bills they are out of control.
Hospitals are the most corrupt institutions in the US. Only place you can’t see the price until they send you a bill for $$$$
