Reed Jobs knows what it’s like to have a family member go through cancer. His father, Apple co-founder Steve Jobs died of pancreatic cancer at the age of 56. Reed Jobs was only 12 years old when his father was diagnosed with cancer. Eight years after Steve Jobs was diagnosed, he died of pancreatic cancer.
The gravity of his father’s death had an impact on the young Reed Jobs who chose pre-med as his major at Stanford University. Although he switched majors, he ended up working for his mother’s philanthropic organization, Emerson Collective in healthcare.
In 2023 Reed Jobs started the company Yosemite, a venture capitalist firm. The company invests in cancer-related therapies and research. He hopes to make most types of cancer at least manageable rather than a death sentence. Major investors include Amgen, MIT, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and others. According to Forbes, Yosemite now manages more than $1 billion in assets. Yosemite is headquartered in San Francisco, CA.
