If you’ve ever had a migraine headache, you’ll know that the pain is unbearable. At least it is for me. I’ve also had dizziness, and an out-of-body experience as if I’m not there. Also, my eyesight gets blurry. I think that the worst part is the anxiety of a migraine coming on. For me, it is really scary. I’ve had to leave work quite a few times.
So what do I do for my migraines? Well, I take pain pills such as Tylenol/Aleve. I also take anxiety medicine sometimes. I meditate, try to get enough sleep, try to relax. I read that migraines double your risk for stroke. So that’s one more thing for me to worry about. I’ve been to the emergency room once when I got a migraine because it wasn’t going away. I thought it might be something else. Some doctors believe that migraines are genetic. It’s good to see a neurologist.
My doctor told me to exercise regularly and to avoid certain foods. Hot dogs and lunch meats are not good. Also soy products and food with MSG (think fast food). I have not tried botox yet but I might. I don’t think there’s a cure. My doctor also told me to try antidepressants but I haven’t done that.
