A few years ago I was traveling to Minneapolis from Los Angeles. I saw Mickey Dolenz in the lounge before take-off and then he sat a few seats away on the plane. He was chatting with everyone, so enthusiastic about his life and answering all kinds of trivia questions. Lots of people wanted to know what he thought about certain articles, various topics in the music industry and he was happy to join the conversation. I wondered how he was so full of energy, so enthusiastic just like he was on the Monkees t.v. show.
After landing many of us still talked to him and it turned out he had a show in Minnesota. I’ve met many stars living in Los Angeles. But I thought that Mickey Dolenz was one of the nicest. He didn’t have an attitude; instead, he was happy to talk to people and share his thoughts on his career and life.
I looked at his touring schedule and he has a full schedule. Peter Tork and Davy Jones passed away but Michael Nesmith and Mickey Dolenz are still actively playing music and singing. Although COVID derailed a lot of the shows that were scheduled, Mickey Dolenz has a full tour starting in September.
I started to think about how people view life. Mickey Dolenz, in his 70’s is so active and energetic. He obviously has a zest for life since he continues to do what he does best. I wonder if having a passion keeps us young and healthy.
