I’ve always wondered why certain makeup goes on sale. I understand an overall discount on beauty products. But what about certain types of makeup and certain brands that go on sale?
Is it because they didn’t sell? During COVID, especially in the beginning, it seems that makeup sales went down. I went to a large department store. The salesperson was leaning over the counter, bored and reading his phone. He sold me some foundation. Unfortunately, I didn’t look at the date and when I got home, it had expired. I lived an hour away so I didn’t feel like driving back. When I contacted the store, they said to return it. That meant packing it up, driving to the post office or UPS/FED Ex, and waiting for a response.
Later, I ordered makeup online. Sure enough, it was expired when I received it. So now I go into the store and I won’t buy any makeup unless I see the expiration date. The makeup I have purchased on sale is usually close to the expiration date or already expired. Maybe some items just don’t sell that well although I have gotten good products on sale. Maybe no one else liked them?
