I have bunions on both my feet. That means I have a bump on the side of my feet where the bone protrudes. I didn’t know what it was until I sat next to a nurse on a plane. I took my shoes off for a long flight and she said “Oh, you have bunions.” She said I could get surgery. I am ambivalent about getting surgery. I am not in that much pain but I definitely can’t wear most of the shoes that I like. And I noticed that my feet hurt when I wear many of my shoes. I envy those who can buy any shoes they like. I try on shoes and almost none of them fit because of the protruding bones. And I know that one foot is bigger than the other because sometimes only one shoe hurts. I wore high heels for so many years and I guess I’m paying for it. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have bunions also but it is bigger on my right foot. That means that if I buy my regular size shoe, one shoe fits and the other doesn’t. Sometimes I go up a half size but it’s not guaranteed they will fit both feet. Sometimes I try shoes on in the store and they feel fine. Later, after I buy the shoes and walk around I have terrible pain. But I don’t want surgery yet.

Don’t jump into surgery if it doesn’t hurt. Try to find a brand that works for your feet or buy size wide. But do talk to your doctor and get an opinion
