A brain injury is a traumatic experience for the patient, family, friends, and loved ones. Recovery can be long and often frustrating. There are so many questions once someone is released from the hospital. For example, what is rehab like? Can I ever return to work? What about finances? Do I need a lawyer in certain instances? Will I have long-term health problems after a brain injury?

Brain injury is a leading cause of death and disability in the U.S. Finding resources to connect with others is invaluable. The best source I have found is the Brain Injury Association of America, biausa.org.

Here you can read about other patients’ stories, find the latest medical news, financial resources, medicare updates, and even fundraising ideas. There are local resources throughout the U.S. and care providers as well. Connecting with the community is so important because there are so many people who are in the same situation.
