While preparing for chemotherapy I feel sad, anxious, and alone. But I know there are others out there who are in the same position I am. So I would like to share my thoughts. A lot of people take electronics to pass the time. I like to watch a movie, but mostly I read to relax. I don’t answer emails or search the internet. I like to block out news and just go into a zen mode.
I usually drink a lot of water. It helps. I take relaxing walks just to calm myself before I go to chemotherapy. I cuddle with my dog. I pack warm clothes just in case I get cold and I usually do. The blankets are often thin, not like the comforter I have at home. I take a picture book with me of my family and my daughter’s favorite book. It helps me to think about her.
I’ve tried acupuncture. I like it but sometimes I don’t feel like it. Many times I feel sorry for myself but then I realize I am not alone and so many people go through the same thing. I sometimes look at Buddhist quotes and it makes me feel better:
If you can stay positive in a negative situation, you win.
Train your mind to be calm in every situation.
