I’ve tried to lose weight for so long and I am finally making progress. Here are the things that I do to lose weight:

I used to go to the grocery store hungry so then I would buy everything in sight. Then I would put the food up front on the passenger side and eat on the way home. Of course I ate so much because I was driving and I wasn’t paying attention to everything I was eating. No more chips or cookies while I’m driving. I put the bags in the trunk now while I’m driving.

I try really hard to get enough sleep. The days I overeat are days that I am tired and don’t sleep enough. Somehow being tired makes a person overeat.

I drink plenty of water. My doctor says it breaks up fat.

I try to cut down on alcohol. That helps because when I drink alcohol I get cravings for sweets and I overeat.

I practice portion control. I used to average out in my head what I’m eating. But now I actually measure portions such as cereal and nuts because calories add up fast.

Lastly, I try not to get discouraged on days that I overeat. You have to get right back up and not berate yourself for going over your calorie limit. Tomorrow’s another day.
