I’m 25 and I’ve had really bad acne since I became a teenager. I’ve always relied on plenty of medicine from the dermatologist, but I’m sick of relying on medicine that doesn’t seem to always work. It might not seem like a big deal to some but my acne has caused me to become extremely self-conscious and it is harming my life. Are there any kinds of surgical treatments or laser treatments that could permanently remove my acne? Thanks for the help.
You should clear up your acne first before having surgery. I don’t know how bad your acne is. There isn’t a magical surgery that will clear your acne. You should be under the strict care of a dermatologist. Even though medication is so hard to take, just think of the thousands of people who have acne and suffer just like you. Once it is under control, then you can have surgery. The technology is so much better now. You can have micro-needling, laser, etc. But I would stay on track with a dermatologist until you feel that your acne is clear.
Hi Ryan,
I know how you feel. I’ve had acne for a long time and I am super self-conscious. I don’t know about surgery unless you mean the kind of surgery where they actually remove large scars (while you’re under anesthesia) like a punch graft procedure. Then you can have the CO2 laser which is amazing. I had the CO2 laser several times. You’ll see a big improvement. I would go to a dermatologist or plastic surgeon for that. It should be someone with lots of experience.
