The constant use of computers, digital devices, ipads, cell phones, etc. has played a large part in eye strain.  You can also get eye strain from reading or driving for long periods at a time.  Eye strain is not serious but there are things you can do to prevent it.

The 20/20/20 rule:

Take a 20-second break to view something 20 feet away from you every 20 minutes.

What about relaxing and putting a warm compress over your eyes?  Too often, we’re engulfed in our daily activities and we don’t take the time for a break.  What about keeping your computer clean? The smudges and glare can cause your eyes to strain.

What’s the best way to clean your computer?

First, turn it off!  Both the computer and monitor.  Use a microfiber cloth that is soft and won’t scratch your screen.

What about a humidifier in your office or where you frequently read for long periods of time?  Don’t forget to blink also because a lot of people use their eyes continuously without blinking.  Use lubricating eyes drops if your eyes become dry.

If your eyes become too irritated, see an ophthalmologist.

This is a good read. So true, I strain my eyes a lot and don’t take a break.
